Call for applications – Future of Work Africa 2022

Village Capital, in partnership with Moody’s Foundation are seeking applications for Future of Work Africa 2022 to support entrepreneurs across Africa that are building for-profit, market-based solutions in education, employment, and benefits that could help young people in sub-Saharan Africa, better prepare for the future of work, access more and better employment opportunities, and build careers.

This new program follows the successful Future of Work Africa 2021 program which supported 23 African startups, 4 of whom received US$20,000 in grant funding from the IFC. This time around, the 2022 program is scaling its impact to  support 45 startups across the region with investment readiness training through:

A core cohort of 10-12 startups will be selected to receive in-depth support via Village Capital’s award-winning training curriculum
An expanded cohort of 33-35 startups will be selected to undertake a guided investment-readiness training through our online, self-paced business development curriculum, which will be delivered simultaneously with the accelerator programs outlined above

Ventures must address unemployment through the following:

Technical, professional, upskilling or reskilling programs
Testing and credentialing programs
New approaches to apprenticeship or employment matching such as gig, job matching and distributed manufacturing platform
Financial health for informal workers, and/or
EdTech for post-secondary and tertiary institutions
