The government of Angola is keeping the ban on the entry of foreign nationals from China, the epicentre of the new coronavirus, South Korea, Japan and Italy, but may extend or reduce this list based on the evolution of the pandemic, said the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.
The Secretary of State also said that the inter-ministerial commission is examining the global spread of the new coronavirus, “depending on this analysis, the inclusion of new countries on the aforementioned list or removal of some that are already on it.”
Franco Mufinda, who was speaking in Luanda on the sidelines of a meeting for clarification about the Contingency Plan for the control of Covid-19 to tourist agents who operate in Angola, said that the country has yet to identify any cases of the disease.
Covid-19 was detected in December, in China, and has caused more than 4,900 deaths around the world, leading the World Health Organization to declare the disease as a pandemic.
The government of Mozambique announced, in turn, quarantine for the citizens of China as well those from Italy, South Korea, Japan, Germany and France, who wish to enter the country, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
The statement, which added that the people concerned will have to stay at home and not in healthcare facilities, unless they have symptoms and require treatment, and the measure cover those countries that have more than 1,000 cases of COVID-19 and where there are more than 100 daily infections.
In São Tomé and Principe, the government decided to prohibit official travel by State officials and staff to countries with a high incidence of the 2019-nCoV virus [the novelty coronavirus that causes COVID-19].
The citizens of China, South Korea, Italy, Iran, Nigeria, Algeria and Senegal remain barred from entering the country.
The Timor-Leste Government decided last week to extend temporary measures restricting the entry of foreigners who have been in China, South Korea, Italy and Iran as a preventative measure in relation to the outbreak of the new coronavirus.
Brazil has yet to place restrictions on entry into the country, and Cabo Verde decided to suspend flights to and from Italy.
