The United Kingdom has 750 million pounds to support projects in Angola, Baroness Lindsay Northover, sent by the British prime minister, said in Luanda on the first day of her official three-day visit.
Northover, who made the remarks at the end of a meeting with Angola’s Finance Minister Archer Mangueira, said that the United Kingdom is funding several projects included in the National Development Plan, notably the construction and maintenance of the Viana and Gabela power substations.
Cited by the Jornal de Angola newspaper, Northover said that the meeting with the Minister of Finance served to select the priority projects for the financing, “some of which are already in the execution phase.”
On this visit, her ninth to Angola, Northover is accompanied by a delegation made up of representatives from the United Kingdom Export Credit Agency (UKEF) and British companies involved in the diversification of Angola’s economy, such as Rolls Royce, KCA Deutag, Aggreko, HSBC, Standard Chartered, IQA/Elecnor, Incatema Consulting and ASGC UK.
During her stay in Angola, Northover has meetings arranged with the heads of the ministerial departments of Health, Energy and Water, Transport, Mineral Resources and Oil and Agriculture as well as with the governor of Luanda.
The Baroness’s visit to Angola coincides with another one by representatives of the London Stock Exchange, and a business roundtable of the United Kingdom-Angola Chamber of Commerce.

Northover, que fez as declarações no final de uma reunião com o ministro das Finanças de Angola, Archer Mangueira, disse que o Reino Unido está financiando vários projetos incluídos no Plano Nacional de Desenvolvimento, notadamente a construção e manutenção das subestações de energia de Viana e Gabela.
Citado pelo Jornal de Angola, Northover disse que a reunião com o ministro da finança serviu para selecionar os projetos prioritários para o financiamento, “alguns dos quais já estão em fase de execução”.
Nesta visita, a sua nona em Angola, Northover é acompanhada por uma delegação composta por representantes da Agência de Crédito à Exportação do Reino Unido (UKEF) e empresas britânicas envolvidas na diversificação da economia angolana, como Rolls Royce, KCA Deutag, Aggreko, HSBC, Standard Chartered, IQA / Elecnor, Incatema Consulting e ASGC UK.
Durante a sua estadia em Angola, o Northover tem reuniões organizadas com os chefes dos departamentos ministeriais de Saúde, Energia e Água, Transportes, Recursos Minerais e Petróleo e Agricultura, bem como com o governador de Luanda. A visita da Baronesa a Angola coincide com a de representantes da Bolsa de Valores de Londres e de uma mesa redonda de negócios da Câmara de Comércio Reino Unido-Angola.
